Terms of Service

Thanks for visiting Carter Law Firm’s website. We hope you find what you’re looking for here.

Because some people are annoying, I’ve decided it was necessary to create a terms of service for my site. By visiting this site, you are agreeing to the following terms.

Please Comment on my Blog Posts
I love it when readers leave comments and share their thoughts about my posts. There are only a few rules I ask you to follow.

  1. Share your own thoughts and experiences.
  2. If you disagree with me or another commenter, attack the idea, not the person.
  3. Follow Wheaton’s Law: Don’t be a dick.

I am not responsible for the content of anyone’s comments. If a comment looks like spam or abusive, I won’t approve it or I’ll remove it, depending on the situation.

We are Not Interested in Unsolicited Emails that Pitch Content or Services
Please do not contact me to pitch your SEO, other marketing, lead generation, or other business services.
I’m not interested in a new website design.
I’m not interested in letting you pay me to embed a link on an existing post.
I’m not interested in your infographic.
No, you cannot write guest posts for my site.

Contacting me for any of the above reasons is is an expression of your willingness to pay $20 to the charity of my choosing.

If I need your services, I’ll seek you out.

Do Not Pin My Stuff
I hate Pinterest. Please note there is no “Pin It” button or icon on my site. That’s intentional.

As the creator of my content, I have the exclusive right to decide if it will be copied and where it will be displayed. Posting a link to my work on your social media profile is not copyright infringement, but pinning my work without my permission is.

I’m glad if you think my work is worth sharing with others; however pinning my work without my explicit permission is a violation of my copyright rights. I will license my work for pinning purposes, possibly even for free; however there is a $100 licensing fee for people who don’t ask permission for copying my work on Pinterest. This applies to the original pinner and everyone who re-pins my stuff.

DMCA Notices
I create all my content and I find my images via Creative Commons if I don’t supply them myself or get permission from the artist to use their work. I have the deepest respect for others’ rights in their work.

If you feel that your copyright rights have been violated, please send me a DMCA takedown notice and I’ll gladly remove it. You can send the notice to ruth@carterlawaz.com or Ruth Carter, Carter Law Firm, 1938 East Osborn Road, Phoenix, AZ 85016.

Dispute Resolution
All disputes related to this website will be resolved in the Superior Court of Maricopa County in Arizona and governed by Arizona law. The non-prevailing party will be responsible for the prevailing party’s attorneys’ fees when permitted by law.

It’s my prerogative to use any of the rights provided by these terms of service. I reserve the right to exercise these rights on some people and not others without any effect on other situations.
